Message from John Edwards

I would like to congratulate the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK) for hosting the online "The 3rd China-UK Economic and Trade Forum: Partnership for future growth and prosperity".

2020 is a special year. While we struggle to control the spread of COVID-19 and to save lives today, thoughts are also turning to what the world will look like once COVID-19 no longer presents a crisis. I believe we need a strong partnership for future growth and it will change the International cooperative relations forever. 

I am delighted to see a rapid increase of Chinese investment in the UK in recent years while UK being the third largest trading partner of China and the second largest investment destination in Europe. I am very positive towards mutual advantages that business leaders from China and the UK can get from establishing a strategic partnership.  

I hope business leaders can have good use of this forum by seizing opportunities to engage in open cooperation and achieve mutual benefits. Let’s work together to strengthen dialogue, break through the current difficulties and create a sustainable future for both countries.

我在此对英国中国商会举办“第三届中英经贸论坛暨《2020英国中资企业发展报告》发布会”表示热烈祝贺。

2020年是特殊的一年。我们在今天努力控制COVID-19的传播和拯救生命的同时，人们也在思考“后疫情时代”的世界新秩序。着眼未来，各国将需要强有力的伙伴关系，国际合作模式亦将发生翻天覆地的变化。

值得一提的是，中国近年来对英投资快速增长。而英国亦是中国在欧洲的第三大贸易伙伴和第二大投资目的地。希望中英两国企业通过建立更强的战略合作伙伴关系，实现互利共赢，共同发展。

希望工商界朋友们可以利用这次论坛，抓住机遇，开展合作。让我们共同努力，加强对话，共克时艰，为两国创造可持续的未来。
