Message from H.E. Ambassador Liu Xiaoming 

The year 2020 will go down in history as an extraordinary year. Profound changes unseen in a century are compounded by the spread of Covid-19, leading to major shifts in the global landscape. The world economy is in deep recession, and the international situation is evolving at a faster pace. Facing increasing instabilities and uncertainties and rising challenges and risks, countries of the world are in dire need of more stability and positive energy.

In the past year, China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK) has spared no effort to seize the opportunities in crises and open new prospects amid changes. It has rallied Chinese and British businesses to pool their wisdom and strengths, fight the pandemic and bring loving care to local communities in the UK. It has been a strong voice of Chinese enterprises and promoted exchanges and cooperation across the board between China and the UK. It has been a stabilizer, a propeller and an advocate for China-UK relationship.

When Brexit is done in the UK and the pandemic is over, China and the UK will find enormous potential for cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, financial services, science and technology, education and health care. There is also a broad prospect for cooperation between the two countries in safeguarding multilateralism, promoting free trade, tackling climate change, and pursuing an open, innovative and green development path. 

Going forward, China and the UK need to open up new horizons, explore new ways and create a new landscape for our cooperation. It is my hope that CCCUK will, in the spirit of openness, cooperation and shared benefit, continue to not only help Chinese businesses take root here in the UK and achieve common development with their British partners but also tell the stories of China-UK win-win cooperation and promote the development of the overall China-UK relationship.

In conclusion, I wish the third China-UK Economic and Trade Forum and the Launch Ceremony of “2020 Report on the Development of Chinese Enterprises in the UK” great success!

2020年注定是人类历史上极不平凡的一年。世界百年未有之大变局与新冠肺炎疫情大流行相互交织，国际形势风云变幻，世界经济深度衰退，国际格局加速演变，世界不稳定不确定因素增多，各国面临挑战风险上升，亟需注入更多稳定性和正能量。

一年来，英国中国商会努力在危机中抢抓机遇、于变局中引领新局，汇聚各方智慧与力量，协调中英企业共同抗疫，面向英国社会传递爱心，代表中资企业积极发声，推动中英各领域交流合作，为发展中英关系发挥稳定器、助推器和扬声器作用。

在英国“后脱欧时代” 和“后疫情时代”，中英在贸易、投资、金融、科技、教育、医疗卫生等领域合作潜力巨大，在维护多边主义、促进自由贸易、应对气候变化、走开放、创新和绿色发展道路等方面合作前景广阔。双方应进一步拓展合作新领域，积极探索合作新模式，谋求开创合作新格局。希望英国中国商会秉承“开放、合作、共享”原则，继续做好植根当地共谋发展的工作，继续讲好中英合作共赢的故事，继续发挥促进中英关系发展的作用。

最后，预祝“第三届中英经贸论坛暨《2020英国中资企业发展报告》发布会”圆满成功！
